Mac OSX on a PC

Found this link to run Mac OSX on a PC, via VMware so no dual booting or anything. So it's fantastic. I'm keen to give it a go. I've downloaded all the files here at work, tried to run it on my work PC but no go as I think it's 64-bit and my work machines only a P4 3.0 so it doesn't support 64bit. I'll try run it at home and see how it goes. All I need to to do is be able to run iMovie and burn DVD's.. and if that's the case SCORE!. Will try it out when i get a chance seeing as the next 2 weeks will be fairly flat chat.

Router Fan: Cooling solution for my Linksys ADSL modem

Just wanted to put up some pictures of my router fan. I was having alot of problems with the router locking up at least once a day because of overheating since it was sitting inside a cabinet. I've made up a little fan stand thing using a 120mm fan, 4 long screws, an old fan cover and an old motorola 6v phone charger. I was going to use a 12v adapter because the fan's rated at 12v but it's far too noisy, and 6v makes the fan just gently push fresh air up into the modem without it sounding like a jet. Since making up the stand 3 days ago.. NO LOCKUPS!! router's nice an cool it's fantastic.

How to disable ' My Video ' thumbnails in Vista Media Center

I've found a workaround the slow loading of thumbnails.. especially over a network.

What I did was to create a blank "jpg" file... so opened up notepad and saved a blank file as "c:\temp\blank.jpg".

then created a batch file with the following code:

FOR /R "d:\videos\" %%F in (*.avi) do copy C:\temp\blank.jpg "%%~dpnF.jpg"

that created a blank jpg for each video. I then deleted the thumbs and ehthumbs files from all the directories to get rid of thumbnails once and for all and that's it. No more thumbnails. Browsing video's has gotten alot faster over the network.. there's no longer that pausing when browsing through vids. And you can see the filenames.. which is handy when things aren't in order.
